Default unlocked skills missing?

I'm playing GW trilogy PVE, and have 2 heroes, each in a different campaign.

In campaign 1, I purchased some skills for my hero's secondary profession. Now, that secondary profession is also the primary profession on campaign 2.

So when I switch over to campaign 2, and visit the skill trainer, I'm missing some of the skills that were learned in campaign 1. A few are available (listed as unlocked), but the others are missing. Any ideas why? Thanks.

The two accounts are mutually exclusive. Also, certain skills are only acquired at certain skill trainers at certain locations. Once you go to those locations, they will then be unlocked at the main hub skill trainers.

I was going to type up a long explanation, but then I figured I'd just link this, which will explain it all better anyway. http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Skill...locking_skills

Here's the most important bit when you're just starting out, though: If you acquire a skill on one character, it becomes unlocked for the entire account. But being unlocked on your account is not the same as being known by every character on your account; new characters you create (unless they're PvP-only characters) will still have to learn the skills again.

(Also, just as a caution: be careful of using words like "account" and "hero". The former refers to the thing that holds all your characters, and the latter is ambiguous, because it can refer to either your character or NPCs that you can recruit on your character. Of course, none of this really matters. It's just a possible source of confusion.)

I saw that before typing this thread, it was confusing.

I updated my OP for clarification.

To be specific, I started playing Mesmer/Ranger on Nightfall, and in the process learned the skills Barb Trap, Flame Trap, Viper's Nest and Toxicity. After covering about 50% of Nightfall, I started a new hero on Prophecies, Ranger/Warrior.

When I get to the first skill trainer available in Ascalon City (Sir Bertran), I see Barb Trap and Flame Trap listed as unlocked, but Viper's Nest and Toxicity are missing.

I just noticed that Viper's Nest and Toxicity can only be acquired in Nightfall. Does this mean that I can't use them in Prophecies?

Skill trainers will sell you any skill you have unlocked on your account of the campaign they are in or of core classification. So a skill trainer in Prophecies will offer you Barbed Trap and Flame Trap because they're core skills - they belong to all campaigns. If you want to obtain Viper's Nest and/or Toxicity you'd need to go to a skill trainer in Elona (the nightfall continent) - any one will do as you've got them unlocked already.

Alternatively, you can buy skill tomes (ranger tomes were about 400g each the last time I checked) which allow the character to instantaneously learn any skill of your profession you have unlocked, regardless of campaign.

After you've acquired a skill, you can use it anywhere you like, so your Prophecies character could pop over to Elona to buy some skills then go straight back to Tyria and use them there (or simply use tomes and forgo a trip to Elona altogether).

Thanks, I'm on easy mode, and the wiki says I can only get them from Zaishen Coin collectors. Where can I purchase these tomes at the price you speak of?

From other characters. As in game there's no authomatic broker system, you have to look at trade chat, better in the most populated towns (Kamadan on top), or check the threads in the "Sell" section of this forum.

Ahh, sorry, I misunderstood your question before. Anyway, yeah, for getting tomes, I'd go to Kamadan and just start spamming WTB ranger tome 400g.

Or add Pyrthas Cannelbrae in game; I have one lying around that you're welcome to.
